Several Closures Listed During Labour Day Holiday

Summer holidays are about to come to an end following the Labour Day long weekend.

In recognition of the holiday, municipal offices and several services will be unavailable on Monday.

Garbage and recycling collection will be pushed back by one day. A few transfer stations within the municipality will be open during regular hours, however, the stations in Chatham, Wallaceburg, and Harwich will be closed.

CK Transit will not be operational on Monday, however, the Seasonal Bus Route to Mitchell's Bay and Erieau will be taking passengers. Monday is the last day for the seasonal transit option, it will resume in May 2019.

All public libraries will be closed Monday but will open according to normal hours on Tuesday. The Chatham Memorial Arena will be open for scheduled events. The Health and Family Services building, along with the Public Health Clinic Services will be closed.

Health care services under the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance will also be affected by the Labour Day Holiday. Routine X-rays, electrocardiograms, and ultrasounds will not be available on Monday -- unless it's an emergency. The oncology/chemotherapy departments will be closed, as will the mental health and addictions program.

As per usual, the emergency departments at hospitals in Chatham and Wallaceburg will stay open. Emergency services under the municipality will also be available.
