A couple of local families are being recognized for their contributions to the agricultural sector.
The Bradley family of Bradley Farms and the Fox Family of Foxburg Enterprises Inc., have been named the 2018 recipients of the BMO Ontario Farm Family Award.
"The Farm Family Awards acknowledge each family’s commitment to both agriculture and the community, celebrating families who take an innovative approach to growing their business, demonstrate a commitment to traditional values and maintain an exceptional standard of sustainability," as stated in an email sent by a BMO Financial Group representative.
Lisa Fox says it's an honour to be recognized. "This has been five generations in the making," she says in a statement. "We are proud of the work we do and proud to have our family continue on this path!"
"Thriving as a farming family means being involved in the continual growth and change of the world's needs; an important role that all us farming families feel privileged to take on," says Fox.
The Ontario Plowmen's Association released a list of this year's 11 recipients. The families will be recognized at the upcoming International Plowing Match and Rural Expo in Pain Court. The event is September 18-22, with awards being handed out on the last day of the event.
Fox says the work done by those in the agricultural sector can often go unpraised or unacknowledged, so events like the IPM and Rural Expo are a great opportunity to bring recognition to the field.
