What's Open/Closed During The Civic Holiday

The August long weekend is here and several residents will be skipping town to celebrate. However, for those sticking around, there are some closures to be aware of.

Most municipal offices will be closed August 6, including the Health and Family Services building. The Employment Resource Centres in Chatham and Wallaceburg will also be closed. All public libraries will be closed the holiday Monday and will resume normal hours on August 7.

Garbage and recycling collection will be pushed back by one day.

In case temperatures rise, residents can stay cool at one of Chatham-Kent's public pools. The Sydenham Pool, Chatham pools (Jaycee, Orville Wright, and Walter Hawkins), Dresden Kinsmen Pool, Ridgetown Howard Community Pool, Thamesville Community Pool, and the Tilbury Centennial Pool are all open with their regular schedules.

For those who would like to go to a nearby beach, the Seasonal Bus Route that goes to Mitchell's Bay and Erieau will be operational on the Civic Holiday. However, the regular CK Transit will not be running on August 6.

As per usual, emergency services can be reached 24/7. The emergency departments at the Chatham and Wallaceburg hospitals will also be open.

Certain services will not be available at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance during the holiday Monday. Routine X-rays, electrocardiograms, and ultrasounds will not be available unless there is an emergency. The mental health and addictions program, as well as the oncology/chemotherapy department will also be closed.
