Teen Charged With Assault

A 17-year-old Walpole Island youth who has had previous run-ins with the law is in trouble again after an alleged assault just outside of Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent police say the youth is accused of assaulting a family member so badly while they were at home late Tuesday afternoon that the victim went to the hospital for medical attention.

The 17-year-old that police arrested in connection with the case is now charged with assault and failing to comply with his release conditions because he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Disturbance Call Leads To Arrest

Chatham-Kent police say a local man is facing a handful of new charges after he was allegedly found with a woman he was ordered not to contact.

Police say they found the pair at a residence in Chatham on Tuesday.

Officers say their investigation also showed that before they showed up, the man had allegedly assaulted the woman, broke her sunglasses, and damaged a door inside the home.

He's also accused of bothering the neighbours by yelling and fighting outside.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old Chatham man and charged him with failing to comply with his release conditions, disobeying a court order, assault, causing a disturbance, and two counts of mischief.

He's being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Three Wanted Men Arrested

Chatham-Kent police can knock three more names off of their wanted list.

Officers say a 36-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning on outstanding warrants for disobeying a court order and failing to attend court.

A 39-year-old Chatham man was also arrested Tuesday morning on a warrant for drug possession and failing to attend court.

And a 31-year-old man who was wanted for failing to attend court on numerous charges dating back to 2011-2013 was arrested in Sarnia Tuesday night. He was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

All three of the accused are being held in custody pending bail hearings.

Car Batteries, Other Equipment Stolen

Police are trying to track down some car batteries, tires, and rims that were all stolen from Sunny Acres Motors and Recycle on Talbot Trail near Morpeth area.

Investigators say it happened sometime over the past weekend, adding that the value of the stolen goods is around $1,000.
