Kittens, Cat Rescued From Hot Vehicle

Animal control officers in Chatham-Kent are reminding the public that it's not just dogs that can't be left alone in a hot vehicle.

And they have a specific case from this week to back that up.

Jason Hamm with PAWR Animal Control says officers got a call on Thursday about some cats that were left inside a vehicle that was in a parking lot on Tweedsmuir Ave. W. in Chatham.

He says when officers arrived, they found three kittens and one adult cat inside and measured the internal temperature of the vehicle, which reportedly ranged from 35 C to 37 C.

Hamm says the cats were removed from the vehicle and taken to a nearby apartment where they received some cool water.

An 18-year-old Wallaceburg woman is now charged with multiple counts of leaving an animal unattended in a motor vehicle when weather conditions are not suitable.
