CK Police Mourn Loss Of Constable Gaiswinkler

Chatham-Kent police are mourning the loss of one of their officers who has died after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

A release from the local police service says Constable Andrew Gaiswinkler, 57 years old, died Tuesday at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, surrounded by his family.

He joined CKPS in 2000 and was assigned to the Traffic Unit as a collision reconstructionist.

Police are extending their deepest sympathies to Constable Gaiswinkler's family and they are also thanking the community for supporting the "Arms Out for Andrew" blood donor clinics earlier this year.

Friends and relatives may visit the funeral home at 156 William St. S in Chatham on Friday from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm where vigil prayers will be offered at 3pm.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, located at 52 Croydon St. in Chatham.

He will be buried in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
