A propane-fired deep fryer that was being used to cook food ended up roasting a large shed in Wallaceburg Wednesday afternoon.
Chatham-Kent fire crews say there was already heavy smoke coming from the shed by the time they arrived at the scene on Bruce St. just after 1:30pm.
Firefighters were able to act quickly, though, and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby house.
Investigators say the cause is going down as "accidental" and the damages are estimated at $30,000.
No injuries were reported.
Fire officials are also reminding the public that if you're cooking food with any type of appliance, you should always follow the manufacturer's instructions -- especially if it says you are only supposed to use it outside, away from combustible materials.
Cooking appliances should also be supervised at all times when they are being used.
