Drum Set, Guitars Stolen

Chatham-Kent police are asking for tips from the public after someone stole about $20,000 in musical instruments, artwork, and albums from a home on Wellington St. in Chatham.

Police say it happened sometime between 11am on July 13 and 10am on July 17.

Investigators say whoever broke in, also took off with a number of valuable items including a drum set and five guitars.

Charges Laid After Alleged Domestic Assault

A Thamesville man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and damaging her home just outside of Dresden.

Police say they were called to the home Tuesday night after the couple got into a verbal argument that allegedly got physical.

Officers say the man is accused of threatening his girlfriend, damaging her home, and physically assaulting her. Police say when they showed up, the woman also told them that it wasn't the first time her boyfriend had assaulted her.

A 29-year-old Thamesville man is now charged with three counts of assault, two counts of mischief, one count of break and enter, and one count of uttering threats.

He's being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Four People Arrested On Outstanding Warrants

Chatham-Kent police say they managed to track down three men and one woman Tuesday who were all wanted by police for various offences.

Officers say one of them was a 22-year-old Harwich man who was wanted for breach of probation, theft, and possession of property obtained by crime. He was arrested Tuesday morning and later released with conditions and a future court date.

A 22-year-old Blenheim woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with her release conditions, break and enter, theft, and possession of property obtained by crime. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 29-year-old Blenheim man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions and for possession of property obtained by crime was arrested Tuesday night. He was charged and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

And a 40-year-old Chatham man who made his way onto the CKPS Wanted List was also arrested Tuesday night. He was wanted for assault and breaching his probation and is also being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police Find Break-In Tools After Stopping Cyclist

A 22-year-old Chatham man is in trouble with the law after police say they pulled him over for riding his bicycle in the dark without a light.

Officers say they saw the man at around 4am and pulled him over, but police say before he stopped, he allegedly dropped a bag he was carrying in a nearby parking lot.

Investigators say police searched that bag and found a hacksaw, a wrench, some vice grips, and some gloves.

Police say they also found some hydromorphone on the man when they searched him.

He's now charged with possession of break-in tools and drug possession and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
