CK Police Wrap Up Three Crash Investigations

Chatham-Kent police have laid charges in connection with three separate crashes that took place over the past two months.

The most recent of the three collisions was just after 10am Monday, July 16.

Police say in that case, a 26-year-old Chatham woman is charged with failing to use a crosswalk.

She was hit by a vehicle on St. Clair St. near Stone Ave. in Chatham.

Officers say the woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the crash.  Police didn't report any damages to the vehicle that hit her.

While police had closed off a section of St. Clair St. for their investigation, officers also stopped three drivers for going around the barricades that were set up to block off the scene. All three of those drivers were charged with driving on a closed highway -- that charge comes with a $110 fine and three demerit points.

In the second case, police have charged a 79-year-old Chatham man with careless driving after a 63-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle while she was walking along the sidewalk near the Nortown Plaza in Chatham.

That crash took place at around 8am on May 28.

The woman who was hit by the vehicle was taken to the hospital in Chatham and later transferred to London with serious injuries. Police say she has since been transferred back to Chatham, but she's still recovering in the hospital.

In the third case, officers have charged a 41-year-old Thamesville man with careless driving and failing to stop at a stop sign after a crash that sent 11 people to various hospitals in the area.

Police say the man was driving a full size van that had 10 people inside it when it collided with a car at the intersection of Grove Mills Line near Brick Rd. in Thamesville just after 5pm on June 22.

Everyone involved in the crash was taken to the hospital, but all of them have since been treated for their injuries and released.
