Maple City Hosting Provincial Golf Championship

Many of the best female junior golfers from across Ontario are teeing up at Maple City Country Club in Chatham this week.

They're in town to compete in the Ontario Junior Girls Golf Championship, which is taking place from July 9-12.

The first two rounds kick off Monday and Tuesday with 61 players in the field. After the second round, the field will be cut down to the best 42 players and ties.

The final rounds will take place on Wednesday and Thursday with tee times starting at 7:30am.

The championship trophy will be handed out Thursday afternoon to the player who has the lowest 72-hole total.

This year's field includes five junior golfers from Maple City Country Club: Brooke MacKinnon, Tess Scaman, Maddux Swayze, Karolyn Rombouts, and Hailey Katona.

It's the first time Maple City has hosted an Ontario Championship since 2014, when it also hosted the Ontario Jr. Girls tournament.

Organizers say the championship is open to the public -- admission is free and parking is also available on site.
