A Chatham woman has been charged after driving with three times the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

Police say an officer on general patrol stopped a car committing a traffic violation on Kiel Dr. in Chatham on Sunday at around 4am.

The officer believed the woman was impaired and arrested her.

She was taken to police headquarters where she provided breath samples that registered over three times the legal limit.

A 25-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with impaired driving. She will be released when sober with a future court date.

A Chatham man has been arrested for allegedly trying to steal a bicycle.

Police say at around 10:20am on Saturday, a man was seen cutting a lock off a bicycle on Harvey St. in Chatham.

An off-duty officer was able to arrest the man and hold him until police arrived.

A 28-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and mischief under $5,000.

He has been released with a future court date.
