Closures For The Canada Day Long Weekend

Many CK residents will be celebrating Canada's 151st birthday this long weekend, which means limited hours and closures throughout the municipality.

Several municipally-run offices will be closed for Canada Day and the holiday Monday.

CK Transit will not be running July 1. However, the Season Bus Route which takes residents to beaches at Mitchell's Bay and Erieau will operate on Canada Day.

The Health and Family Services building will be closed on July 2. The Employment Resource Centres in Chatham and Wallaceburg will also be closed on Monday. The reception office at Riverview Gardens will be closed the holiday Monday, but nursing staff will be available.

Garbage and recycling collection services will not be affected by the holiday and will go on according to schedule. The Harwich Transfer Station, Wallaceburg Transfer Station and Chatham Leaf & Yard Depot will be closed on July 2. However, all other transfer stations will be open and unaffected by the holiday.

In terms of activities available, the Thames Art Gallery, Chatham-Kent Museum, and Milner Heritage House are open July 1 from 11am–4pm, but will be closed on July 2. The Ridge House Museum will be open from 1pm–5pm.

The Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool will be open July 1 from 1:30pm–4 pm for a free open swim. Regular summer hours will start July 2 at all outdoor pools and the Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool. The Bothwell Arena will be open for Canada Day activities, but all other arenas will be closed.

As per usual, all emergency services such as police, fire and EMS will be available 24/7. Emergency rooms at hospitals in Chatham and Wallaceburg will also be open.
