Threshing Festival Takes Over Thamesville This Weekend

Thamesville residents are getting their last-minute preparations in for a big party this weekend.

The 43rd annual Thamesville Threshing Festival kicks off Friday night with the parade.

"It starts at Ferguson Park, that's the big draw for Thamesville on the Friday at 6:30pm," says Advertising Chair Kristy Metcalfe. "We're still taking parade entries right up until that moment actually. Midway and vendors, there's beer gardens, and Groove Noodles up on stage, that's basically our Friday night."

While the parade on Friday is a big draw, Metcalfe says there is a lot planned for Saturday.

"There's baby contest, frog jumping contest, broasted chicken dinners. We've got a few new activities this year as well, an acrobatic show, she's a former Cirque du Soleil artist," says Metcalfe. "Jay Allen is on stage, Farmer's Olympics, and Dirt Country, and ending with the fireworks."

Metcalfe says you don't want to miss the fireworks on Saturday night, either.

"If you haven't seen it, I really urge you to come out to Thamesville on Saturday night. It's usually after dusk, so it's going to be around 10pm, 10:15pm. It is an amazing show, it's really breathtaking, it gets better and better it seems every year."
