UPDATE: One Dead In Hwy. 401 Crash, Road Now Open

Chatham-Kent OPP are confirming that a Windsor man who was involved in a crash on the Hwy. 401 in Tilbury early Friday morning has died.

The OPP say the man succumbed to his injuries after the transport truck he was driving was involved in a head-on crossover crash with another transport truck just before 7am Friday. The other driver was also rushed to the hospital in Chatham with life threatening injuries where he remains in critical condition.

Police say their initial investigation shows that "a westbound tractor trailer had lost control, crossed through the center median and collided with an eastbound tractor trailer."

The OPP have since identified the driver killed in the crash as 44-year-old Alaa Issa of Windsor.

The OPP say all lanes of the highway were closed in both directions between Hwy. 77 (Comber Rd.) and Hwy. 2 (Queens Line) until around 9:30pm.
