Momentum Slows In Race For CK Council

Only one person has filed their nomination papers this week to run in the upcoming municipal election.

Although momentum has slowed down over the past few weeks, residents have until July 27 to announce their candidacy ahead of October’s election date.

Below is a current list of people running for a position on Chatham-Kent council. The names in bold are those who filed their papers this week.

Four people have filed their papers for the position of trustee, they include Pierre Lambert, John Mrnik, Robert (Bob) Demers, and John Van Heck.

As for mayoral candidates, Councillor Darrin Canniff and local advocate Alysson Storey are the only two to file their papers. Mayor Randy Hope had previously said he will file his papers after the provincial election, which was on June 7.
