Familiar Faces Running In 2018 Municipal Election

A couple of people known throughout the community have tossed their hat into the ring to run in the upcoming municipal election. Two people who filed their nomination papers this week are known for being a current councillor and a community organizer.

Chatham-Kent residents have until July 27 to file their papers ahead of October's municipal election.

Below is a current list of people running for a position on council. The names in bold are those who recently filed their papers this week to run in one of six Chatham-Kent wards.

Ward 1 – West Kent

Four people have filed their papers for the position of trustee, they include: Pierre Lambert, John Mrnik, Robert (Bob) Demers, and John Van Heck.

As for mayoral candidates, Councillor Darrin Canniff and local advocate Alysson Storey are the only two to file their papers. Mayor Randy Hope had previously said he will file his papers after the provincial election, which was on June 7.
