Two truck drivers from Brampton are facing charges after two separate crashes that tied up traffic on the westbound Hwy. 401 earlier this week.
Officers say a 30-year-old Brampton man is charged with careless driving after the transport truck he was operating lost control and went into the ditch in the construction zone on the highway near Victoria Rd. just after 11am Tuesday.
Emergency crews shut down the highway for 10 hours in order to safely remove the vehicle.
Police say while traffic was still backed up because of that crash, a car that was at the end of the line near Kenesserie Rd. got rear-ended by another westbound tractor trailer.
The force of the crash crushed the back of the car and sent it into the center median. The woman who was behind the wheel of the car at the time was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Both the car and the tractor trailer had to be towed from the scene.
Officers say the 51-year-old Brampton man who was driving the transport truck that crashed into the car is now charged with careless driving, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and failing to surrender a proper vehicle permit.
