Family Dispute Results In Multiple Charges

Police said an argument between family members escalated to the point of threats with a wrench and BB gun Monday morning.

According to a police release, a man left before officers arrived on the scene and failed to return before his 11pm court-ordered curfew.

Police located the man on Tuesday and arrested him. He has been charged with failing to comply, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of uttering threats.

He was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Resisting Arrest Causes Minor Injuries To An Officer

According to police, officers on a foot patrol Tuesday afternoon spotted and attempted to arrest a man wanted on break and enter and trespass charges. The suspect was found on Patteson Ave. and Gray St. in Chatham.

Police allege the man immediately pulled away and began struggling to avoid being arrested. Police said the man was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody. The release added one of the officers sustained minor injuries.

Police said the 28-year-old man has been charged with resisting arrest and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged With Being Intoxicated Near School 

Police responded to a report of an intoxicated man near a local school on Raleigh St. in Chatham.

According to Police, he was taken into custody for his own safety as he was allegedly unable to care for himself.

The 63-year-old Chatham man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place, according to police and was released when sober.

Tools Stolen From Unlocked Shed

Police said between 5pm Monday and 7am Tuesday, unknown suspects stole various tools, along with a pellet gun, from an unlocked shed on Mink Line. According to police the items were valued at roughly $1,400.
