Cancer Survivors Celebrated In Relay For Life

More and more people appear to be showing support for the Canadian Cancer Society of Chatham-Kent.

The Relay For Life event is scheduled for June 22 from 6pm-12am. Senior manager Cindy Vinall says so far registration has been great.

"We've seen a number of new teams this year so we're glad that people are embracing it," says Vinall. "If they haven't registered yet we would encourage them to register as a team, as a participant, as a survivor."

However, people who don't want to walk but want to see the luminary ceremony are welcome to do so. Darcy Derbecker, community fundraising specialist, says people can register as an individual and just meet new people.

Participants will meet at the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Athletic Complex to walk the track and take part in the luminary ceremony.

"You can expect to laugh, you can expect to cry, you can expect to be very busy," says Vinall. "You'll celebrate, you'll remember, and as you're walking the track you're going to be fighting back against cancer."

To register, people can call 519-352-3960, visit the Chatham office at 746 Richmond Street, or visit their website.
