A Chatham man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting three police officers.

Police say on Friday at around 6:30pm, officers went to an address on Gray St. in Chatham to respond to a man who was allegedly destroying property inside the residence.

Police tried to help the man because his arm was injured, but he allegedly kicked one officer and spit on two others.

A 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with three counts of assault.

He was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.

Police are investigating after a Chatham school was damaged.

Sometime overnight between Thursday and Friday, police say unknown suspect(s) caused an estimated $200 worth of damage to a window of a school on Raleigh St. in Chatham.

The suspect(s) also stole an electronic device from the school.

Two Chatham men are in trouble with the law after failing to comply with their release conditions.

Police say in April, two men were released from custody with conditions not to communicate with one another.

Then on Friday at around 1pm, the men were seen together inside the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham and Chatham-Kent police were contacted.

The two 22-year-old Chatham men were arrested and charged with failing to comply with their release conditions.

They were taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where they have been held for a bail hearing.
