Tampon Tuesday Fundraiser Underway

The United Way of Chatham-Kent is collecting feminine hygiene products for women in need.

Director Helen Heath says it's an item that often gets overlooked when people are making donations.

"Nobody thinks about the other items on your grocery list," she says. "You have to get soap, you have to get toothpaste, and for women they need feminine hygiene products. And they're not cheap."

The feminine hygiene products will be collected at Tampon Tuesday, which will take place on Tuesday, June 19 at the TenSeven Cafe after 5pm during the Women's Leadership Council AGM.

"We'll distribute them on the 20th to food banks, to the Women's Centre, Refuge, any organization that serves vulnerable women," says Heath.

Donations can also be dropped off before June 19 in hot pink bins at a number of local businesses, including the Blackburn News offices at 117 Keil Dr. S in Chatham.
