Tilbury Dance Studio Saying Goodbye

After over four decades in the community, a Tilbury dance studio is closing.

Dianne Edmunds, owner of Dianne Edmunds School of Dance in Tilbury, is closing her dance studio after 41 years in the community.

"I felt it was time to begin a slow retirement," she says. "I own a business in Windsor with my sister. It's very time consuming and I just found it was time to allow someone else to continue the dance legacy here in Tilbury."

Edmunds says it was a very difficult decision to make. She says she started the dance studio when her daughter was born.

"I'm sure someone else will take over and the children will still be able to continue dancing here in town. Lots of crying went on for the last couple weeks and everytime I see someone they remind me of all the years that we've been here," she explains.

Edmunds says the kids are what kept her going all these years. She says final recitals for the dance school were held Friday evening and Saturday afternoon at Tilbury District High School.

"It was a very difficult rehearsal. I felt everyone was just kind of looking at me thinking 'What are we going to do now?'" says Edmunds. "I reassured everyone that it'll all work out, it always does."
