Police Briefs-Sunday, May 27, 2018

An impaired driver has been charged after crashing into a Chatham bridge and rolling his vehicle.

On Saturday at around 8:30pm, officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Keil Dr. and Riverview Dr. Police say a man struck the bridge, causing the vehicle to roll onto its roof.

An officer believed the driver was under the influence of alcohol and arrested him. The man was taken to police headquarters for further breath tests, which indicated that he had over twice the legal limit of alcohol in his body.

A 46-year-old Chatham man has been charged with impaired driving. He has been released from custody with a future court date.

The driver and his passenger did not suffer any serious injuries.

A London man wanted on outstanding warrants has been turned over to Chatham-Kent police.

Police say on June 24, 2017, a man was arrested on an outstanding warrant. He was also found to be in possession of drugs. He was later released from custody with a future court date for the drug charge.

On July 13, 2017, the man failed to go to court and another warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Saturday morning, the man was found by OPP in Lambton County. He was arrested on his outstanding warrants and turned over to the Chatham-Kent Police Service.

A 27-year-old London man is facing charges of possession of drugs and failure to attend court. He has been released from custody with a future court date.

A Wallaceburg man has been arrested after failing to stay away from his victim's house.

Police say on September 15, 2017, a man was released from custody with several conditions after being arrested for domestic assault. One of his conditions was to stay away from the victim’s residence.

On Saturday at around 8:45pm, police were called to a Wallaceburg residence to response to the man being outside the victim’s residence. Officers found the man outside and arrested him.

A 57-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with breach of recognizance. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

A Chatham man has been arrested for not staying away from a woman.

Police say on April 12, a man was released from custody with several conditions after being arrested for a domestic-related mischief charge. One of his conditions was to not contact or communicate with the victim.

On Friday, police say the man and the female victim were seen getting into the same vehicle together outside of the Chatham courthouse. Then on Saturday at around 6:30pm, the man was found on Queen St. in Chatham and arrested.

A 27-year-old Chatham man has been charged with breach of recognizance. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

A Chatham man spent time in jail after being drunk in public.

Police say on Saturday at around 11:15pm, officers went to a business on King St. in Chatham in response to a man who was causing a disturbance.

A 63-year-old Chatham man was arrested for being intoxicated in public. He was held in custody until sober.
