Maroons Commit To Three Veterans, Three Prospects

The Chatham Maroons are expecting to have a good mix of veteran leadership and young talent this fall.

The team recently announced they have commitments to veterans Dane Johnstone, Dakota Bohn, and Jake O'Donnell, who were all part of the Maroons' 2017-2018 team.

Johnstone has already been named captain, while Bohn and O'Donnell will serve as assistant captains again in the coming season.

The Maroons have also committed to three local prospects who took part in their Spring Camp at the Thames Campus Arena over the weekend.

The team expects to have Lucas Fancy, Evan Wells, and Cameron Welch for the coming season -- all three of them are from Chatham.

Fancy, who played with the Blenheim Blades last season, was the top scoring 16-year-old and was runner-up for Rookie of the Year in the Stobbs Division.

Wells and Welch both played for the Windsor Spitfires Major Midget 'AAA' Team last season. Wells was named the Alliance 'AAA' All-Star game MVP and Welch played in eight games for the Maroons, scoring one goal and adding two assists during that time.
