Storm Sweeps Through The Area (GALLERY)

Strong winds and a severe thunderstorm Friday afternoon have taken its toll on the municipality.

Environment Canada ended a severe thunderstorm warning around 3pm, however, a wind warning remained in effect for the rest of the afternoon.  The wind warning was ended just after 5pm.

Several residents throughout Chatham-Kent have reached out to Blackburn News to report fallen trees and hydro poles.

There were several power outages in the area and crews are working to restore power to those still experiencing an outage.

Chatham-Kent police are reminding drivers that if the traffic lights aren't working, treat it as a four-way stop.

Residents are encouraged to send in pictures of damage around Chatham-Kent caused by Friday's storm.
