McHappy Day Totals Up In CK

The McHappy Day totals are in for Chatham-Kent and they increased again this year.

The Chatham and Wallaceburg locations raised $28,127 for charity in the 2018 campaign, up from $27,000 in 2017.

Owner-operator of the Chatham-Kent McDonald's restaurants Wade Crosby says it's great to see the totals rise again.

"It's crazy, [employees] are tired, they're busy, but at the end of the day, I think that they feel like they did the best they could do and for a good cause," says Crosby. "It was a great day."

Crosby says it's always a lot of work planning and coordinating as well, but he's grateful to see the community's overwhelming support for the initiative again.

During the fundraiser, more than 1,400 restaurants in Canada committed to donating one dollar from every Big Mac, Happy Meal, and McCafe beverage to Ronald McDonald Houses and other local charities.

The Chatham-Kent initiative raised money specifically for the Ronald McDonald House in Southwestern Ontario.
