Students Collecting Donated Dresses

Local women looking for a dress for an upcoming event are in luck.

UCC's annual Dress Drive is back for a ninth year in the Dance Studio at the high school on Grand Ave. in Chatham. The sale is a fundraiser for UCC's prom and will run from 3pm-7 pm on Thursday, May 3.

"There's a lot of formal dresses, so prom, graduation, things like that, but there's also some less formal dresses," says teacher Tasha Sanford. "I know last year some girls came in and bought dresses for interviews and things like that. So there's kind of a wide variety, a little bit of something for everybody."

Sanford says over years they've sold hundreds of dresses.

"It's nice to kind of see the wide variety of people, the word's kind of spread. So it's not just students, it's just women in the community in general that are coming," she says. "All the dresses are $20, some of them still have tags on them, they're brand new some of them that were donated. Shoes and accessories are $5."

They are also accepting dresses, they can be dropped off at the front office at UCC before 3:20pm on Wednesday, May 2.
