Councillor Canniff Will Run For Mayor

A current Chatham councillor and co-chair for the upcoming International Plowing Match and Rural Expo is planning to run for mayor.

Darrin Canniff has announced his candidacy in the Chatham-Kent mayoral race.

“I am so looking forward to serving this community as mayor," says Canniff. "I believe in this community and want to take a leading role in making Chatham-Kent a place that people are extremely proud to call home."

Canniff says he will be filing his nomination papers Tuesday, which is the first day candidates are able to do so.

In addition to the roles listed above, Canniff has also taken part in other community initiatives and charitable events.

“I am ready to be a champion for our community on a full-time basis,” he says.

Canniff will be challenging current Mayor Randy Hope, who says he plans to run for re-election this fall.
