Chatham-Kent police say the cause of death is not being released at this time, but that Laprise's death was not a random act of violence. They also say the accused and the victim knew knew each other.

Audette remains in custody and her next court date is scheduled for May 2 at 10:30am by video.

Laprise's obituary says he leaves behind a wife and two children. It also says he loved watching many sports and the New England Patriots were his favourite team.

Laprise is being remembered as an amazing father who loved to teach his children valuable things, most recently teaching his daughter to walk. Family and friends say his big bear hugs will be missed by all, but never forgotten.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11am at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg.
