Nationals Dominate Maroons 8-0 To Even Series

The London Nationals bounced back in their playoff series with the Chatham Maroons.

London dominated on offence and David Ovsjannikov stopped all 21 shots he faced, as they shut out the Maroons 8-0 Saturday night at the Western Fair Centre.

The GOJHL Western Conference semifinals are tied at a game apiece.

The only goal of the first period came from the stick of London's Carson Brookshaw, about midway through.

The Nationals exploded in the middle frame with four goals. Riley MacRae doubled the London lead with a power play goal at 4:53, while James Turner brought insurance to the Nationals a little over two minutes later. Brenden Trottier and Max Vinogradov added the remaining goal before the second intermission, holding a 5-0 lead. Maroons goaltender Ryan Wagner was pulled after the period for backup Lucas Patton.

London added three more goals in the third period, from Brett Whitehead, Isaiah Payne and Jack Webb in order.

Patton and Wagner combined for 24 saves in the net for Chatham.

Game 3 of the best of seven series is Sunday night at Memorial Arena. Puck drop is at 7pm and all the action can be heard on CFCO Country 92.9FM/AM 630.
