Maroons Take Game 1 Over Nationals

The Chatham Maroons topped the London Nationals 6-5 in double overtime in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series on Wednesday.

The Nationals scored the initial goal of the game early in the first period, but Dakota Bohn scored for Chatham after 6:46 to tie things up. London scored once more to take the lead heading into the second, but Noah Bushnell tied the game again with the only goal for the frame.

In a back and forth third period, Dane Johnstone added another goal for Chatham after 6:41 to make it 3-2, but the Nationals scored just over a minute later to tie the game once again. Maroons gained the advantage again with less than four minutes remaining in the game thanks to a goal by Grant Spence, but the Nationals forced overtime by scoring in the final two minutes.

After neither team scored in the first extra period, Bryce Yetman scored the game-winner for Chatham 1:47 into double overtime.
