Nicholls Eager For Ford To Visit The Area

Chatham-Kent-Essex MPP Rick Nicholls says Ontario's new PC leader will "be more or less on the road between now and June 7".

Doug Ford was named the new leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives March 10. Nicholls says since then, Ford has been out on the campaign trail in preparation for the June election. Nicholls adds he spoke with Ford Tuesday morning in regards to visiting residents in Chatham-Kent and Essex County.

"He said 'Rick pick a spot that will hold a lot of people,'" says Nicholls. "He said this area represented him well in the leadership race and he wants to get down here and share his vision for Ontario."

As for when Ford will visit the area, Nicholls says details have yet to be finalized.

"I'm very excited about [Ford] and the energy that he brings," says Nicholls. "[Ford] is a man that people think 'oh he's just Toronto-centric -- and that is not the case at all.'"

With the provincial election a mere three months away, Nicholls says Ontario's Tories are "standing strong and united behind [Ford]".

"Our membership has spoken and Doug Ford is our person and so I'm very excited," he says.
