Dog Tag Deadline Coming Up

Time is running out for Chatham-Kent residents to get their dog tags for 2018.

"You have until the 31st of March to get a tag before the late fee is charged," says Licensing Assistant Olivia Genge. "That is coming up quick so we do recommend that you do get in as soon as possible."

Dog tags are $38, and $28 if your dog is spayed or neutered. A $10 late fee will be applied to any tags purchased after March 31st.

Licensing Manager Nancy Havens says you will need to bring some paperwork with you.

"It is provincial law that all cats and dogs over three months of age have their rabies vaccination. So please get those rabies vaccinations and bring that information in with you."

Genge says dog tags can be picked up at a couple different locations this year.

"The Civic Centre and any of the outlying service centres, Pet and Wildlife Rescue does sell tags as well, and some of the vets offices have started selling tags this year."

If you are caught without a dog tag, you could be hit with a fine of $240.
