Remembering Ronny Betterley

Many across Chatham-Kent are mourning the passing of an exceptional boy this week.

Ronny Betterley passed away at home on Monday surrounded by his loving family after battling a rare form of brain cancer. Its official name is Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, which is a highly aggressive and difficult to treat tumor that is found at the base of the brain.

The 7-year-old Boston Bruins fan was a student at Harwich Raleigh Public School in Blenheim and was loved and adored by many in the Chatham-Kent hockey community.

The Blenheim Bobcats are sending their thoughts and strength to the Betterley family and their honourary Bobcat AKA “Tuukka”.

He was also a member of the South Kent Minor Hockey Association.

Visitation is at McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. E., Ridgetown on Thursday from 7pm-9pm and on Friday from 1pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Congregational Church, 450 Park Ave. W in Chatham at 1pm on Saturday.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim.
