Chatham-Kent police say a man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman.

Police say officers went to a Wallaceburg residence Friday night after receiving a report about a woman’s safety.

Once on scene, officers learned that a fight had occurred at the residence.

A man was arrested for domestic assault, as well as additional charges of assault and mischief for previous incidents.

He was held pending a bail hearing.

Police say a woman spent time in jail after being intoxicated in public.

Early Saturday morning, Chatham-Kent police found a woman who was yelling and causing a disturbance on Taylor Trail in Chatham.

Police say the woman was being uncooperative with police and was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.

The 26-year-old woman was held at Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters until she became sober.
