Hi-Tech Auto Careers Waiting At The Detroit Auto Show

If you're looking for a career in the hi-tech auto industry, this weekend's North American International Auto Show in Detroit is for you.

Dave Murray, Communications Director for the Michigan Department of Talent and Economic Development, says the show is offering many job opportunities and information in the evolving auto sector. He says more than 80 hi-tech companies and universities are in the basement at Cobo Hall showing off what they do and talking about what they offer.

Murray says people can find out about many things like skills required and expected growth in the industry.

"Our cars are really rolling computers at this point, they're not the old things that we think of. There's 10-million lines of code in a typical luxury car these days," he says.

Murray says the displays will seem like science fiction and are very educational and inspirational.

"To fill the jobs of the future people need to know what kind of careers are out there and what type of training they need to get to get those careers," says Murray.

He says there are 100,000 hi-tech auto jobs available in Michigan right now.

The auto mobility displays at the auto show are Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 6pm. The auto show runs until January 28.

Tickets are $14 for adults and $7 for seniors and children 7-12 years old.
