More Volunteers Needed For CK Plowing Match

This September's International Plowing Match near Pain Court is continuing its search for volunteers.

Plowing match organizers are expecting between 90,000 and 120,000 visitors.

Co-Chair Leon LeClair says 500 people have signed up to help so far, but organizers expect to need around 1,500 volunteers for the event. Despite this, LeClair says everything is coming together nicely.

"[I'm] pleasantly surprised and the pool of people involved so far is fantastic. I couldn't be more humbled by the quality of volunteers," says LeClair.

LeClair says there are several volunteer jobs available.

"Don't worry if your skill set is lacking or you believe it's lacking because there's something for everybody. I'm sure we can find something that fits your niche and we're going to make it fun for you when you come on board," LeClair says.

He says it's an opportunity of a lifetime and the volunteer base could be used for another event.

"You need to go away from this experience having a great time and wanting to do this again. Maybe not for something like this but for another event to support Chatham-Kent," says LeClair.

Anyone can sign up to volunteer January 19 at the Ridgetown Library from 12pm to 2pm, January 23 at the Tilbury Library between 4:30pm and 7:30pm, January 24 and 25 at the Chatham-Kent Farm Show at the John Bradley Convention Centre from 9am to 4pm, February 7 at the Thamesville Library between 4:30pm and 7:30pm and March 16 at the Wallaceburg Library from 11am to 1pm.

Volunteers can also sign up by clicking here or by calling 519-350-1686.
