New Art Gallery Coming To Chatham

Art lovers will have a new gallery to check out in Chatham's downtown core this spring.

The Art and Heirloom Shoppe is set to open at 159 King St. W on March 1. The gallery will be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm, with extended hours on Friday evenings.

Co-owners Chris Ford and Sue Rumball are excited to bring this new art venue to Chatham.

"It's a combination of art, plus a smattering of antiques," says Ford. "We have artists from the Windsor-Essex area and local artists as well...so it's bringing culture to the people and people to culture."

Ford says the location of the gallery is perfect because "downtown Chatham is the cultural heart of the municipality."

"It's a quaint space so it'll be very impactful when you come in. It's in a very good location, with Art Space two doors down and the lovely Capitol Theatre very close," says Ford.

Ford says he is originally from the Chatham area.

"I've just moved back recently from Windsor, where I ran an art gallery for seven years and wanted something closer to home," he says.

Rumball is from LaSalle and is excited to see what the Chatham area has to offer.

Ford says he welcomes all artists to give him a call at 519-401-3083 if they are interested in participating in the gallery.
