Man and Woman Charged with Theft

Chatham-Kent police say theft charges have been laid against two local people after a theft in Chatham.

Police say $80 worth of items were taken from the Giant Tiger on Grand Ave. W. on Wednesday afternoon.

A 33-year-old Walpole Island man and a 33-year-old Wallaceburg woman were arrested a short distance away. Authorities say the man was on a bicycle, allegedly stolen from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance earlier in the day, while the woman was still pushing the cart full of the stolen items. The theft of the bike was captured on video surveillance at CKHA.

Break and Enter Plea

Police in Chatham-Kent are asking people to be on the lookout for suspicious activity following another break and enter.

This one happened sometime between January 7 and January 10 when police say someone broke the rear glass door of a home on Dover St. in Chatham. Investigators say the house was ransacked and televisions and personal items were stolen.
