Chatham-Kent police are investigating after a stolen vehicle caught fire in Ridgetown.

Police say on Sunday at around 4am, officers responded to a vehicle fire in Ridgetown.

Police discovered through investigation that the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the evening.

The investigation is on-going.

An off-duty cop in Chatham saved the day by stopping a thief at a local store.

Police say on Saturday, the off-duty officer noticed someone trying to steal from a Chatham store.

According to police, a young person was arrested for theft under $5,000 and held pending a bail hearing.
