Evening, Weekend Access Expanded At Chatham Cultural Centre

New and improved hours will soon be offered at the Chatham Cultural Centre and downtown Chatham to allow visitors more opportunities to enjoy special collections, exhibitions, and programming.

Starting January 2, the Thames Art Gallery, the Chatham-Kent Museum, and ARTspace will be changing opening hours to expand evening and weekend access.

According to a news release, the change of hours is in response to reviews of attendance, as well as a recent CK Museum Survey, which have identified that the public would prefer extended evening and weekend hours.

The release states that the total number of open hours will remain the same for the Thames Art Gallery and CK Museum, which are currently open from 1pm to 5pm daily. However, now the two venues will be closed on Monday and Tuesday and open from 1pm to 7pm Wednesday to Friday and 11am to 4pm on the weekends.

The municipality’s community art gallery ARTspace will be changing hours from 12pm to 5pm Tuesday to Saturday to 12pm to 5pm Wednesday to Saturday.

“We’ve been increasingly hearing that visitors would like more ways to experience arts and heritage offerings. We are excited about developing ARTspace not only as a renewed commercial and presentation space, but also looking at different ways to feature public installations and pop-up art projects throughout the region as a way to showcase local talents and further engage our diverse communities,”says Gallery Curator Pamela Edmonds.
