Special Weather Statement Issued

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex, calling for a messy mix of freezing rain and snow on Thursday.

The weather agency says snow is expected to arrive Thursday afternoon, with freezing rain and snow predicted for Thursday evening.

Environment Canada says the combination of freezing rain and snow is from a low-pressure system travelling from the Southern Plains States towards the Great Lakes.

It is reported that the region may get up to 5 cm of snow by Thursday evening.

Drivers should expect poor road conditions and plan for extra time to reach their destination.

The weather is expected to calm down by Friday as the low-pressure system passes by just south of Lake Erie.
