Community Steps Up To Replace Stolen Salvation Army Donations

After a car full of Salvation Army donations was stolen in Chatham-Kent, many residents and organizations have come forward in the spirit of Christmas giving.

Captain Karen Holland says the car, which was stolen Thursday afternoon, has yet to be found.

"It was our family services worker's car that was stolen. It was just after he picked up some donations of toys and three boxes of new blankets for us to use. We didn't have an inventory of what was taken because he had just received it, but his trunk and back seat were full," says Holland.

Holland says she is so grateful for the donations that have come in after she announced the bad news.

"We've received quite a few toy donations from individuals, companies, and other organizations. We've been helped dramatically for the toys," Holland says.

She says the Salvation Army now has plenty of presents for the boys and girls of Chatham-Kent.

"We're confident though that what the community has given to us is going to see us through. We shouldn't have any problems filling their orders," says Holland.
