Ontarians are not taking any celebrity-themed name ideas when it comes to naming their children.
The province has released its list of the top baby names in Ontario for 2016, with Olivia and Benjamin ranked as the most popular.
Olivia has been the most popular for baby girls in Ontario since 2008, but Benjamin is a new favourite. For a five-year stretch, Liam had been at the top for boy's names -- this time, it fell to second place.
The top names for girls include:
1. Olivia 2. Emma 3. Charlotte 4. Ava 5. Sophia
Top names for boys include:
1. Benjamin 2. Liam 3. Noah 4. Ethan 5. Lucas
Older names also appear to be making a comeback.
Of note, Lincoln has made it into the top 20 list and it appears parents could be influenced by the popular Netflix series, The Crown. Since that series launched in November 2016, the names Elizabeth, Margaret, and Winston have seen a noticeable increase.
