Chatham Company Donates $10K To CTC's Music Therapy Program

Kids at the Children's Treatment Centre can keep singing and rocking out to different instruments thanks to a donation from a local company.

Dan Lundy of Lundy Insurance Inc. presented the Children's Treatment Centre Foundation with a cheque for $10,000 on Monday to support the centre's Music Therapy Program.

"It was a simple decision for our office. My daughter Sydney uses the Children's Treatment Centre, so we decided that this would be a great way to support the new Butterfly Building Campaign that they have going on for the new centre that they're hoping to build. It was a no-brainer decision for us to help out," says Lundy.

Lundy says Sydney, who is seven years old, participates in programs at the Children's Treatment Centre three days a week and especially loves music therapy.

"The music therapy, specifically, is really important to us. Our daughter loves it. It costs a lot to keep the music therapy going, so we just hope that this will help out a little bit and keep the program going strong," says Lundy.

The Music Therapy Program provides children and youth with special needs access to music programming that develops attention spans, communication, motor and social skills through singing, playing instruments and other music-focused activities.

The program receives no government funding and relies on community support to keep going.

Lundy, who has been on the foundation's board for the past two years, says he wants to do everything he can to support the new centre and keep the Music Therapy Program alive.
