Flood Concerns Along Lake Erie Shoreline

Another flood watch has been issued for the Lake Erie shoreline.

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority updated its statement for the shoreline in Chatham-Kent Monday afternoon, pertaining to weather conditions in the forecast from Monday through Wednesday.

Forecasters say the wind is expected to gather strength throughout Monday night into Tuesday morning, with sustained speeds of 50 km/hr and gusts up to 70 km/hr. Environment Canada’s Marine Forecast is expecting the waves to build to heights of 1.5m Monday evening, possibly even up to 2m by Tuesday morning and to 3m by Tuesday evening.

Winds are expected to diminish to sustained speeds of 40 km/hr throughout Tuesday and into Wednesday.
