A Chatham teen has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill police officers.
Police say on Sunday at 11am, a young man was acting “out of control” inside his Chatham residence.
According to police, the teen threatened to take the lives of the officers on scene while they were speaking with him.
Police say a 16-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with making threats.
He was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and later released with a future court date.
A man and woman are facing charges after allegedly being caught trying to steal hundreds of dollars worth of items at the Chatham Walmart.
Police say on Sunday at 1:15pm, a man and woman went to the Chatham Walmart together through the main entrance doors. According to police, the man filled up a cart with items and then walked towards the food department.
Police say he then allegedly left the store, making no attempt to pay for the items in the cart.
An officer, who happened to be in the security office at the time, saw the man on video surveillance and approached him as he was leaving the store. The man allegedly ran from the officer, but was caught shortly after.
The estimated value of stolen items is $800.
A 50-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Police discovered through further investigation that the man was also failing to comply with court-ordered condition to stay away from all Walmart locations within the province of Ontario. As a result, the man was also charged with failing to comply.
He was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
During that time, the woman was also allegedly seen hiding items in a bag she was carrying. Before she could leave the store, she was approached by a security officer and police were called.
The estimated value of the stolen items is $30.
Police say a 33-year-old Windsor woman was arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen items under $5,000. She was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where she has been held for a bail hearing.
Police have located a man with a warrant out for his arrest in Chatham.
Police say on November 13, a man was released from custody with a condition to report to the police station in Chatham on a scheduled day and time.
Police allege man failed to report to the station when he was required to.
Police say the man’s whereabouts were unknown, so they issued a warrant for his arrest.
On Monday at 1am, police noticed a 28-year-old man in the area of Gray St. and West St. in Chatham. He was arrested on the warrant and charged with failing to comply.
The man was taken to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
