A 24-year-old London man is facing several charges after his lead-footed driving led to police seizing a gun and over $100,000 worth illegal drugs.
Chatham-Kent OPP say a vehicle going westbound on Hwy. 401 near Scane Rd. was stopped for speeding on Wednesday. Police searched the vehicle and found $100,000 worth of suspected cocaine, $12,000 worth of marijuana, counterfeit money, a handgun, and ammunition.
The suspect is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I sbstance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possessing counterfeit money
- Racing a motor vehicle
- Driving a motor vehicle with no permit
- Failing to surrender insurance card
- Possessing more than one licence
