Blenheim Plant Owner Speaks

Cross Country Manufacturing is expected to make an official statement on Tuesday afternoon regarding the sale of its plant in Blenheim.

The Manitoba company has been trying to sell its plant for months because it says it "has a cash flow problem" but continues to operate on a cash on delivery basis.  Cross Country Manufacturing got $550,000 from the province in October of 2016 to expand the Blenheim plant and create 100 new jobs but now court documents show it owes dozens of creditors millions of dollars.

Local creditors include; Tilbury Steel, which is owed $233,000, Tirecraft in Chatham, which is owed $181,000, and Pinwood Truck Parts in Chatham, which is owed $53,000.  Dowler Karn Fuels in Chatham is owed $21,000, Entegrus in Chatham is owed $18,000, and G&K Services in Windsor is owed $12,000.

PricewaterhouseCoopers says talks continue "with a potential bidder on an exclusive basis."
