CK Driver Charged After Motorcyclist Assaulted

A 23-year-old man is facing a number of charges after allegedly shoving a man off a motorcycle at an intersection in Chatham.

Police say that happened at the intersection of Sandys St. and McNaughton Ave. at around 2pm Monday.

Officers say the man accused of assaulting the biker was driving down McNaughton with his girlfriend and her two young kids in the car, when he allegedly forced the biker to pull over into oncoming traffic in order to avoid being hit by the car.

Then, when the car and the motorcycle pulled up to the intersection of McNaughton and Sandys, police say the man in the car got out and allegedly pushed the man off his bike.

The biker only reported minor injuries, and some slight damage to the handlebars and the paint on his motorcycle.

Police say it wasn't a random attack, though both of the men know each other.

Officers were able to track down a suspect and arrested a 23-year-old Chatham man Wednesday afternoon. He's now charged with assault, dangerous driving, and driving with a G1 license without a qualified driver in the vehicle.
